Commemoration of the abduction of Chibok schoolgirls (14-15 April 2015)
A year ago, more than two hundred schoolgirls were brutally abducted in Chibok by Boko Haram.
In front of this barbarous act deliberately targeting women in a place dedicated to the transmission of knowledge, and thereby the future of a nation, our emotion is still as strong. The perpetrators of these crimes must face justice.
As soon as the news of the abduction was known, France was closely associated with Nigeria’s efforts to find them. On May 17, 2014, a summit of Heads of States in the region was held in Paris on security in Nigeria, after which an action plan was adopted.
Today, our determination to fight against Boko Haram with the countries of the Lake Chad Basin remains intact. We fully support President-elect Muhammad Buhari to carry out this task.
More than ever, France stands on the side of the Nigerian people in the fight against terrorism.
