French Landing Personnel Deck (LPD) “SIROCO” in Lagos
Coming from Douala (Cameroon), the French Landing Personnel Deck (LPD) “SIROCO” arrived on February 14th, for a port call in Lagos where he remained till the 17th of February.
(LPD) “SIROCO” call in Nigeria comes in the wake of series of high level exchanges between France and Nigeria, firstly with the French Prime Minister’s visit in Abuja on 22nd of May 2009 following, more recently, with the visit of the French Foreign Minister, M. Alain JUPPE who reminded the willingness to partner with Nigeria on security over the terror attacks in the parts of the country. This co-operation culminating with the President GOODLUCK JONATHAN visit to France on November 23rd 2011 for investors meets.
The last port call of a French Navy ship in Lagos was the French Navy’s Aviso (PHM) “CDT BLAISON (1st to 3rd October 2010).
Under the orders of Navy Captain Henri FOUQUES DUPARC, some 279 people are on board the 168-meter-long ship: 30 officers, 144 petty officers and 105 leading seamen and sailors.
